Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses cover specific subjects relating to intelligence and security. They are do not have to align with professional learning outcomes and are targeted at those seeking development outside of the requirements of registration. CPD courses do not confer formal qualifications and are not supported in the same way as general or clandestine service programmes.

A bespoke brief to introduce candidates to the principles of intelligence security. The course will take students without any knowledge of intelligence to a position where they can safely handle intelligence material. This short briefing course is a pre-requisite for obtaining a Level 2 security clearance via the Institute and is not required for candidates who already possess such a clearance.

An introduction to intelligence as a sector, function, organisation, product and service. This short course is compulsory for all new entrants and is designed to take students without any knowledge of intelligence to a position where they are familiar with the intelligence environment, the Institute and the Intelligence Academy.
